Till now Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), has received a total of 9,794 emails from people who have complained against the unregistered projects since May 1, 2017. Of these 10,000 emails, the number of valid emails were 7,328, comprising of a total of 721 projects.
In an RTI reply by the authority that it posted online on its website, it has revealed this figures. As per MahaRERA, they have even initiated action and close to 77 projects were registered. The process of registration for 474 projects is under process. The authority has even informed the planning authorities which includes municipal corporations about 85 projects.
Further, the authority has started a new website, where people can directly complain about non registration of project. This will ease the process as people can directly complain, anyone who feels, a particular real estate project, ought to have been registered under MahaRERA, but is not registered, can give the information. Once the complainant finishes with the information, the website will generate a number, for future enquiry. The complainant will be able to view status of MahaRERA's investigation in his complaint.
MahaRERA since its inception has received 33689 applications in total of which registration was granted to 33,371. This figure includes 16048 applications from Real Estate Agents of which 15893 have been granted registration. A total of 17641 promoters had approached MahaRERA for registration of which 17478 have been granted registration. According to Adv Shirish Deshpande, Chairman, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat, it is difficult to gauge the number of projects that are ought to be registered, but one can clearly state that MahaRERA is putting in a lot of effort to get all the projects that need to be registered under its net.
Till now MahaRERA has received 3927 complaints of which 1158 Complaints are in process of hearing while Orders are passed in 2255 cases. As indicated by segment 11(2) of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, the ad or outline issued or distributed by the promoter is required to say the site address of the expert wherein all points of interest of the enrolled venture are entered and incorporate the undertaking's MahaRERA enlistment number.
