In order to resolve any dispute between customers and builders, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has created 18 reconciliation forums across the state, where problems are solved by depositing ₹1000.
In the coming days, there will be more reconciliation forums coming up in the city. Apart from this, if the builder and customer are not satisfied with the decision, then the customer holds the right to approach MahaRERA.
The reconciliation forums comprise of Grahak Panchayat Manch, National Real Estate Development Authority, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association and other well-known organisations members.
In Mumbai, there are 10 such reconciliation forums, five in Pune and three in Nagpur, and all are running active. MahaRERA secretary Vasant Prabhu informed that till now, 401 complaints have been filed at the reconciliation forum, of which 181 complaints have been resolved.
Between May 1, 2017, and August 31, 2018, MahaRERA received 4017 complaints out of which orders have been passed for 2200 cases while 351 cases have been appealed. Nearly 17,716 housing projects have been registered with MahaRERA. Prabhu says that people who are planning to buy a house should first check whether the construction project is registered with MahaRERA or not. Source: Mumbai Live
