Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has uploaded all the RTI applications on its website it has received since its inception in May 2017. Most of the RTIs sought information on housing projects in the state.
MahaRERA has put up the responses, applicants' names, date of application and other details on the website that comes under the Right To Information Act. RTI activists have welcomed the move but also recommended that a search option should be made available.
From August 1, MahaRERA started the process of releasing the applications received under RTI and their responses online. They did so in order to boost the transparency and to avoid repetitive applications.
We are receiving a lot of RTI queries and most of them have the same set of questions. So, we decided to make these responses online that we have received in the last 1.5 years," Vasant Prabhu, Secretary, MahaRERA.
